Update from Alexandra:

Dear friends, artists, craftspeople,

We are very excited to see the possibility of people meeting again for in-person workshops after the long COVID pandemic rollercoaster. For those of you who are ready and excited about this platform and do not know my story over the past two years, I am ready to share it here in a nutshell. Thinking of where to begin, I have to say it has been a long and difficult process, but the whole idea of Craftom is worth the effort and hope for its great future. The Craftom idea was born in 2016 when Rolando Negoita and I had the realization of how important it is that the old and new craft skills have to be promoted and kept alive. We worked hard to create this start-up platform, to trademark, to incorporate, to build a website, and to bring a local community of artists and artisans together around it.

Unfortunately, in 2017 a sad and difficult situation stopped us in our tracks. My husband Rolando Negoita was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer (Glioblastoma). For the next three hard years we embarked together on Rolando's most difficult journey of his life, where I spent all my available time supporting and bringing him as much light as I could. Ultimately, Rolando passed away in 2021 after a long battle. He was an accomplished artist, teacher and a ‘maker’ as he liked to call himself. He was the biggest supporter of Craftom as one of its founders and always with great enthusiasm. My son and I miss him tremendously.

Independent from the difficult recovery of his loss, the COVID pandemic has been a major break in any in-person type of business, and Craftom was no exception. I take this opportunity to apologize to those who were wondering why our website vanished. It was a time when I simply could not focus on anything else other than our family health crisis tucked in the middle of a global crisis.

While I am still recovering from it all, please be assured that Craftom is alive and more than ever ready to be fully functioning again. I hope this transition period will be smooth and steady thanks to the continuing interest in Craftom from so many.

Thank you all so much for your support and patience,

Alexandra Negoita,
